Three Easy Recipes for Mother's Day Brunch
The Best Brunch Cocktails: Keep it Simple
When it comes to brunch cocktails, I prefer the classic route with Mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar. What I love about both of these drinks is you can play around and have fun with them and both of them can easily be made into mocktails.
For the Mimosas, consider doing a flight with different juices other than the standard orange. Add in some ice cubes with fruit pieces within for a fun touch. I like to give if a Cville flair by using local sparkling wine and I get that at The Workshop, where I got a lot of input for my Charcuterie post in March.
Mimosas
When it comes to Bloody Marys I like opting for an accoutrement bar with options like bacon, celery, olives, pickles and pepperoncini. The mix is also very important. I don’t like to go homemade but rather opt for mixes from Back Pocket Provisions. Based out of Richmond, they work with farmers across Virginia to create amazing Bloody Mary mixes. Their mission is incredible and their mixes are delicious. I also like using a local vodka from Silverback Distillery - they were featured in my dog friendly post.

Three Easy Recipes to Please Your Guests
When coming up with recipes for this Mother’s Day Brunch I wanted to have a mix of sweet and savory bites and I wanted them to be colorful. After all, it is May!
Cucumber & Radish Salad
First up I had sweet and savory salad options. For sweet it was fruit with a mix of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. For savory it was Cucumber & Radish Salad with a lemon olive oil dressing. I love this salad - not only is it beautiful and colorful but it’s also a lighter option.
Spinach & Prosciutto Frittata Muffin
For my sweet and savory small bites I went with a Spinach & Prosciutto Frittata Muffin and Air Fyer Donuts. The muffins are a good way to get a little protein into the mix. The recipe was a little oily for my liking so I will probably modify the oil amount the next time I make these. I also find prosciutto to get a bit gamey when cooked this way so I might consider subbing it out for bacon as well. However, this was super easy to make and was a nice addition with the other items.
Air Fyer Donuts
Now for the star of this Mother’s Day brunch - the air fryer donuts. These were surprisingly good. They turned out light and airy and were so incredibly easy to make. I tried experimenting with chocolate, which I think could be good if you remember to still use the butter and vanilla extract wash on the donut before coating with chocolate. I did not do this - whoops! As a result, those donuts were dry but the cinnamon sugar donuts? AMAZING. These will be a crowd pleaser and go really nicely with the mimosas.
Honestly, any of these recipes would work well for multiple types of gatherings. Looking for something nice and light to take to an outdoor potluck? Try the Cucumber & Radish Salad. Looking to impress weekend guests with minimal mess? Go with the donuts.
Of course, we eat with our eyes first so presentation is key. I’m a firm believer how you present things in your home should represent you so I love using a mix of different serving items depending on the food or my mood. My absolute favorite serving piece for this brunch were the dessert plates made by CFA Ceramics. She’s taking a brief hiatus but definitely check out her pieces when she returns. Her work is beautiful and charming.
Cheers and happy eating!
