welcome to
drift cville

My name is Elizabeth and I’m so excited to see you here!

During the pandemic, I (like everyone else) found myself at an impasse. My work in planning international travel programs was understandably at a standstill, I missed organizing things for people, and I missed being out and about in Charlottesville (Cville). As I’ve also always loved to write, I decided to channel my restless energy into something positive, and Drift Cville was born!

This blog is my way of sharing all the things I feel passionately about with you. I hope you like what you see.

Cheers & happy exploring!

While I love Charlottesville (and food…and travel), my first love will always be books. I have loved reading my entire life and have always enjoyed my self-proclaimed bookworm status. Throughout my years I’ve been a Bookseller at multiple Barnes & Nobles, a Librarian in various cities, and am currently a freelance book reviewer. Books are a necessary thing in my world, and I love sharing what I read with others.

I currently write book critiques for The BookLife Prize (Publishers Weekly), as well as reviews for Independent Book Review and NetGalley. Additionally, I am a member of The National Book Critics Circle, and I’ve recently started as a Beta Reader.

My job history is a bit unusual (I’ve been a certified librarian, a program and events manager, a travel account manager, a virtual events manager, and now a freelance writer and book reviewer) and I like to roll all of these experiences into my website. If you are looking for book recommendations, you can check out my book corner. This is honestly my favorite part of this entire project.

charlottesville

Discover the ins and outs of Charlottesville, whether you are a local looking for ideas for a night out with friends or an out-of-towner looking to plan a weekend getaway. From the best places in town to grab coffee to the uniquely Charlottesville to do items, I have you covered!

lifestyle

As I like to plan and organize anything and everything, I’ve compiled a section for just that. Throwing a party? Searching for the perfect gift for someone? I cover all these topics and more.

travel

As I mentioned, I have extensive experience planning travel itineraries and it is something I still love to do for fun. While my job dealt with international locales, I now focus more on domestic travel, including dog friendly (as I am obsessed with my Cavalier King Charles Ollie).

Retro Hospitality has been so thrilled to collaborate with Elizabeth at Drift Cville and highly recommend her to anyone. We are consistently amazed by her thorough research and dedication to staying on brand, ensuring our message resonates perfectly with both our audience and hers. Working with multiple Retro properties, including Quirk Hotel and Dairy Market, Elizabeth’s incredible creativity shines through in every project, and she masterfully leverages our resources to create captivating content. What truly sets this partnership apart is her ability to infuse a burst of imaginative energy into any task she takes on. Not only is she incredibly responsive and a joy to work with, but Elizabeth's partnership has been an invaluable asset to Retro Hospitality & our properties — And it doesn’t hurt that her dog, Ollie, is super cute and a great addition to her content!
